Cannabinoids are a group of closely related compounds that act on cannabinoid receptors in the body, unique to cannabis (for hemp). The body creates compounds called endocannabinoids, while hemp produces phytocannabinoids.
Unlike marijuana, hemp is relatively easy to grow outdoors in a range of climates. Hemp stalks can grow up to four meters tall, and because they are very resistant to pests they do not require pesticides to thrive. These stalks are generally much skinnier and taller than marijuana plants. Additionally, hemp leaves are thinner and less densely clustered than the leaves of a marijuana plant.
CBD is a Non-Addictive Cannabis Compound. Unlike THC, there are no psychoactive effects from ingesting CBD, and the World Health Organization determined it “exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential”.
There’s some confusion between medical marijuana that contains THC and Hemp CBDs within states. All products sold with CBD derived from hemp that contains less than a half of a percent of THC (thats .3% or less), is considered drug-free, and can be sold in all 50 states legally.
CBD Oil (Cannabidiol) is a naturally occurring cannabinoid, derived from hemp, and contains .3% or less of THC, and thus is non-psychoactive unlike marijuana, the cannabis sativa plant. With the passing of the farm bill at the end of 2018, CBD is now legal in all 50 states and a growing number of countries!
FIRST THINGS FIRST… CBD is not the same as marijuana… even though both contain certain amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
